Rosanne Cash with Kix

With Johnny Cash and June Carter-Cash as parents, it’s no surprise that Rosanne Cash got the musical bug.  I recently started listening to some of Rosanne’s music and can honestly say that a sense of calm passes over me each time.  Her music is a nice get-away, away from the hip-hop revolution that seems to be overtaking America…okay, not exactly ‘overtaking America’ but I hope you get the point.  Anyway, I am on this Rosanne Cash kick because she was just in the studio talking to Kix for his American County Countdown radio show!!!  It was so great to learn a little more about her life during the interview and I just feel very honored to have met her.

Rosanne’s new CD is called The List.  When she was 18 years old, her dad gave her a list of the 100 Essential Country Songs.  She chose 12 songs from that list for this CD.  I love this song called “Girl From The North Country” which was written by Bob Dylan.  Every time I listen to it, it makes me think of home.  In one of the verses, it mentions the wind howling, rivers freezing, and snowflakes falling. Every time I hear those lines, I picture myself leaning up against the back of the living room couch, arms folded on the window sill, staring out at the frozen lake and reflecting on the many times I was out on that lake during the summer.  Those memories of being up north in Gaylord, MI, where I spent every summer, are always pleasant to reflect upon and I would just like to thank Rosanne for not only this song, but for all of her songs.  I hope I have inspired you to pick up a copy Rosanne Cash’s new CD and spend some time reflecting with me!  In the meantime, check out some of Kix’s other interviews on ACC TV, and tune into American Country Countdown with Kix Brooks each weekend on a station near you!
